Insensitivity of the Indian Media to problems in NE

1. While any small or large issue in J&K is given a front page importance by the National Media, any event in the NE, whick is in fact the most volatile region for India, remains relegated to the background. This not only smacks on deliberate callousness, but also systemic indifference to the problems of NE on part of the Indian public at large and media in particular.
2. These people ARE very much a part of India and are as "common" citizens as anybody else. The recent economic blockade of the Manipur valley by Naga associations is a result of the vested interests of Naga separatists, the Meitei separatists and the deep rooted long power struggle between them.
3. An excellent article has been written on the IDSA website. Please click the following link to refer to a crisp and detailed analysis of the same:-

Unique India...

India is a land of paradoxes.
  • We boast of being one of the longest surviving civilizations, without even knowing our history.
  • We boast of having ushered in the green revolution, without even ensuring food security for all.
  • We boast of being one of the largest armed forces, without even having a national strategic vision.
  • We boast of seamless stream of "culture" through ages, with our intelligensia supporting the "khap panchayats" and our politicians bickering over mandir-masjid.
